Daniel Herkenhoff founded Holistica Foundation in 2017. He is a businessman and educator from a long line of educators.
Holistica Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is transforming social and economic disparities in Brazil through books. By supplying books to the poorest children in Brazil, they are setting a course for the current generation to break the cycle of poverty.
Holistica is providing a gift of literacy that stimulates the joy of reading and develops a daily habit for reading. This small gift is opening a world of opportunity!
Daniel was ready to expand his impact, his global footprint, and to diversify his market. Brazil's literacy scores rank far below the global average. While Daniel will continue to strengthen his donor base in Brazil, he is eager to plant roots within the United States as well.
As a passionate educator, Daniel would only be satisfied if he was providing an education solution that simultaneously supported both the U.S. and Brazil.
We were therefore tasked with developing a program that would:
We consider each challenge a puzzle. The solution already exists but is unformed. We help you identify and organize the right pieces, bringing it to life.
After we identify a formed solution, we innovate! We consider ways to enhance our solutions so they are set apart form the competition and go beyond baseline expectations.
Two primary skills support this process: research and creative thinking.
Literacy has the potential to reverse the ever growing opportunity gap in schools. With this in mind, we developed an elementary school program that would utilize the largest population within the school community - the kids - to support the eradication of this invisible thief.
The Books 4 Brazil program provides students in the U.S. an easily implemented and engaging month long curriculum to explore Brazilian culture. Students will enhance their passion and commitment for reading during the program while simultaneously supporting literacy for peers in Brazil.
Implementation and program measurements are the last piece of the puzzle. We will be working with Holistica Foundation to pilot and refine their new program this year.
